In this photo, our daughter is about 4 years old, and I think we were at Jean and Jack's for Thanksgiving. She is 'modeling' some dangly earrings, and seems rather pleased about it.
One Christmas, I made Diane a king-sized quilt using squares of fabric from various outfits she had as a child. This is that quilt, with our daughter posed in the center of it.
David's co-worker at the research farm was Bernie Havlovik. This is a photo of his son Matt's birthday at our house. I made Matt a 'turtle' birthday cake. Matt is on the left and David and our daughter are next to him, seated at our table in the dining room of our house on West 3rd Street in Kanawha. (The table is one that had been in Ann Rueber's basement, and I repainted it and then rosemaled - Norwegian decorative painting - on it.)
Our daughter and her brother, Dave, are goofing around at a playground near Grandma Cooper's house in Cedar Rapids, about 1982.
In our neighborhood in Kanawha, there were a group of women who had small kids, and we got together for 'Craft Club.' Basically, it was a morning coffee klatch, and all the kids were invited. Here is our daughter with several of the children who came to 'craft club' that day at our house - left to right, the Nicole Nock girl (I think that was her name...), Ben Lang, Tammy Miller (with her head turned), Becky Miller, and our daughter.
Here are Nicole Nock, Ben Lang, Tammy and Becky Miller, with Nikki Lang in the chair, and our daughter lying on the floor, maybe getting ready for 'surgery' with the doctor set. Interestingly enough, I think the two Miller girls ended up being nurses.
Here's another birthday with the two older Havlovik kids - Matt and Sarah. It was for our daughter's birthday in 1983 and we were at the park across the street from our house in Kanawha. I made the cake...not very professional, but not your usual sheet cake either...
This is an 'Oscar, the Grouch' birthday cake I made for Matt Havlovik. This was my 'rosemaled' table, and the table was in our dining room at the house on West 3rd Street in Kanawha. (I also painted the holder for the lefse rolling pin that is hanging on the wall, and the needlepoint to the left of the grouping on the wall was one I also made.)
Here is Rufus when he lived at our house. His eyes seem to nearly match the orange velvet of the chair. I reupholstered this chair and another one with some velvet fabrics that were on sale...this one happened to be orange, and the other one was a soft lime green. They coordinated with the Jacobean curtain fabric I used in our living room.
Rufus was such a beautiful cat, and well-behaved too.
Here are more of the series of photos I took that I used when I made the etching of our daughter for a class at Ames. (I crocheted the afghan on the chair behind her, and that pattern made the etching look great!)
She was examining a light meter for the camera. She was always a very inquisitive child.
Here is our daughter at a pavilion at the Minnesota Arboretum in about 1983.
