The 1980's and assorted photos from that decade....

This photo was taken in February of 1984, and the Timmermanns and Madelyn were there, along with David and I and our two daughters, joined us for this meal as well. Ann Rueber had a huge oak table that had several leaves so you could seat quite a few people. This was taken in her kitchen on West 7th Street in Cedar Falls.

This photo was taken at Merry and Merrel's house at Thanksgiving time in 1987. Here is Wilma and our daughter...I can't see what's on TV, but I doubt if she is watching a football game!

Here is our daughter in her holiday dress opening a gift at Grandma Rueber's while Donald Timmermann looks on. This was in 1987.

Here's another holiday photo from 1987, with Michael, Laura and Madelyn Peregrim, and with our daughter in back.

Here is another shot of our daughter holding Dave's cat, Tippy, by our Christmas tree, with the handmade straw ornaments that David and I made, and with the wood block and felt nativity set David made (this was given to our neighbor kids when we moved to Traer.)

In 1987, Joel Rueber married Betsy Trigger from Everly, Iowa. This is a photo at the reception following the wedding. In back, left to right, are Donald Timmermann and Scott Timmermann. In front are our daughter, infant Michael Peregrim in the lap of the bride, Betsy, and on the right is Craig Timmermann.

This is the wedding party photo from Joel and Betsy's wedding. In back, left to right, are Bill Timmermann, Mark Rueber with Lois Rueber Timmermann in front of him, Ann Rueber, Betsy Rueber nee Trigger, Joel Rueber, me (Carol Rueber), David Rueber, Madelyn (Rueber) and George Peregrim, with Michael Peregrim. In front, left to right, are Donald Timmermann, Scott Timmermann, Craig Timmermann, and our daughter.

Here is our daughter's school picture at the age of nine, in 1987. Pretty face...sweet girl!

About this time, our daughter was quite active in 4-H, and raised rabbits to show at the fair. This photo was when Katie and John Tveiten and our daughter went to Rabbit Camp in Madrid, Iowa. Here they are in our driveway standing beside the Tveiten van, just before they left to go to the camp. Katie was one of our daughter's best friends when they were young.

We were big into reading, and still are... Our daughter loved the 'Laura Ingalls Wilder' books, and we read them all. We decided it would be neat to travel to many of the locations where Laura lived and wrote about. This is near where the dug-out house was located on the 'Banks of Plum Creek.'

We also visited Pepin, Wisconsin, where 'The Little House in the Big Woods' book originated. This is a park dedicated to Laura Ingalls Wilder and her stories about pioneer life in the Midwest.

And...here is the location of 'the little cabin' where Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in 1867. We also traveled to 'The Shores of Silver Lake,' which told about the Ingalls lives living in eastern South Dakota.

This is a photo of Diane and her little sister, playing with Diane's dog, Chuy, just before Diane left to go back to Phoenix, after living and working in Mason City for a few years.

Here are photos of our two Shetland Sheepdogs - Solo and Lady. They were such pretty dogs, and very well-behaved. In these photos they are enjoying the sunshine while laying on the steps of the front porch at the research farm in Kanawha.

This photo was taken in the front yard at the research farm. Solo is on the left and Lady is on the right. The view is toward the north.

When our daughter was in high school, she was still active in 4-H, and in this photo, she is happy with the first prize she won in the Obedience Trials with Lady, who was still pretty young at this time.

Here is a photo of the winners of the Obedience Trials, with our daughter and Lady on the far right.

In 1988, Diane and Jerry Johnson became the parents of Krista Brittney Johnson. Here is Jerry, holding his little infant daughter, and she is so relaxed and is sound asleep! Jerry is a fireman and medic in Phoenix, and not much bothers him...

So, the two of us (me and our youngest daughter) flew out to Phoenix that November to meet my little granddaughter.
We all took a trip to Sedona, and here is a photo of our daughter by the iconic 'cathedral rock' there. Eventually, I painted the scene, and gave the painting to Diane. It now hangs in her dining room.

In the summer of 1989, Diane and Krista came to visit. Here we are, at Wilma's apartment, left to right - Diane, me, Wilma holding Krista.

And, here's another view of the same group... Love those big brown eyes, Krista!

In 1989, Doug and Gail came for the holiday to visit Wilma and the rest of the family. Russell was just six months old, and this was the first time my mother saw him. In this photo at my mother's apartment on Mound Avenue, Russell is having a good look at his great-grandma, and my mom has her eyes shut (she was always unhappy when a photo of her came back with her eyes closed or her teeth showing...she didn't think of herself as attractive, but she was a very pretty woman, even in her later years.) You can see that Gail is a proud 'mama!'
